Darwin Deez is hard quirk. The Brooklyn singer is someone you'd never want to be trapped in a lift with, so turned-up-to-11 is his personality, and Songs for Imaginative People ("for", you note, not "by") is essentially a They Might Be Giants record for hipsters.

Flitting between 1980s soul-pop and jerky indie, it has its big, brash, pop-rock moments. Moments, in fact, when it seems that the only thing wrong with a Darwin Deez record is Darwin Deez.
