Enrolment records broken for all electronic course

You, your computer and the net, the new all-electronic technology course, has smashed all Open University records with 9,000 students enrolled for the start in February 2000. So popular is the course that a second presentation, starting in May 2000, has been added, to accommodate a further 3,000 applicants. The OU is now recruiting extra tutors. "The level of demand partly reflects the general interest in things to do with the web and Internet, but also the fact that this course is unique in applying supported open learning to the web," says course chair Ernie Taylor."There are other skills-based courses available, but nothing that goes into this depth, or leads onto an academic qualification." Piloted this year, You, your computer and the net is part of a suite of four totally new introductory-level Technology courses starting from 2000.
