A terminally ill middle-aged man who left hospital to go home and die has been found tied up and shot dead in his home.

Neighbours of divorcee Jeremy Debonnaire, 45, said he had become increasingly bitter and depressed over respiratory illness, asbestosis, from which he suffered.

His body was found by a friend on Friday night in his bungalow in Bearsted, near Maidstone, in Kent. Murder squad detectives say there were signs of a break-in, although they are still trying to establish a motive for the murder. Mr Debonnaire, a glazier, had come home only days earlier after doctors told him there was nothing more they could do for him.
