A South Korean politician yesterday accused the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-il, of spending more than £120,000 a year on feeding his pet dogs even as his country's people starve.
Citing intelligence sources, Yoon Sang-hyun, a member of Seoul's ruling Grand National Party, said that as well as keeping dozens of dogs, Mr Kim imported dozens of Russian horses last year and bought his son, Jong-un, 10 jet-skis, which he rides at the family's mansions.
