Indro Montanelli, the 84-year-old founder of the Milan daily Il Giornale, resigned as editor after accusing his former boss, Silvio Berlusconi, the media and football tycoon, of editorial interference, Reuter reports from Rome.
Mr Berlusconi's Fininvest empire includes three national television channels, a publishing house, a supermarket chain and the Italian soccer champions AC Milan. He is now planning to enter politics at the head of the Forza Italia movement.
