Undercover agents in Dubai say they have found devices that deliver electric shocks to racing camels to make them run faster.

Two men have been accused of selling the so-called "shock jockey" units which fit inside the robot jockeys regularly used in camel racing. Authorities in the United Arab Emirates banned boy riders several years ago after complaints from human rights groups.

Reports say that police posing as buyers arrested the suspects selling the units at a camel racing track for up to 30,000 dirhams (£5,150) – about 30 times the price of the ordinary robots.
