Sandown's clerk of the course Andrew Cooper is "optimistic" that today's meeting, featuring the King George VI Chase, will go ahead as planned.

Cooper called a precautionary inspection for 7.30am today but was bullish about the prospects of racing taking place

Cooper said: "We will stick to the inspection but the severity of the weather was not as bad as we first feared, which is obviously good news."

Market Rasen's meeting today is also subject to a precautionary 8am inspection. "I am very confident of racing," said clerk of the course Nick Patton. The going at Market Rasen is currently good, good to soft in places on both the hurdle and the chase course.

Meanwhile, Wetherby officials will inspect the track at 7.30am ahead of their meeting, which features the Rowland Meyrick Handicap Chase.
