YESTERDAY I was reading Tolstoy's Anna Karenina. This morning the otherwise perceptive Andrew Higgins effectively ruined my bedtime reading with the first sentence of his article ('Russia clings to a desperate liaison', 13 February). I wanted to read about Pan-Slav solidarity. Instead I was told of Anna's suicide. You should display a greater degree of sensitivity towards the public by not giving away the endings of great works of literature.
