Sir: You report (20 September) on the"grim regularity" of disasters on Britain's railways,with a death toll of some seventy over the last ten years. What do we say about the grim regularity of disasters on Britain's roads,with a death toll of some seventy last week, and the week before,and the week before that and...? Few of us have pistols in our pockets, but many have lethal weapons on the road. Who cares? I ask the question in all seriousness.
