I see that National Heritage wants to move the road away from Stonehenge so that people cannot get a 'free' look at the monument. Are they going to screen off all our national monuments? Is this the first step towards privatising the nation's heritage? Or has it already been done? Can anyone enlighten me?
Stonehenge is a unique landmark, visible to anyone who travels on the road nearby. The people of Britain should be able at least to view our heritage from a distance without having to pay through the nose.
