Wilmington Fire Department taking applications for 2025 Citizens Fire Academy
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) -The Wilmington Fire Department (WFD) is accepting applications for this year’s Citizens Fire Academy.
Community members have the chance to see the different aspects of WFD in their operations and the special teams of the Fire Marshal’s Office. Applicants will also have a behind-the-scenes look at firefighting and public safety.
This includes riding a fire boat, being raised in a tower truck, specialty tools and facility tours.
More than 200 citizens have graduated from the academy and joined WFD.
Attendants will meet for four weeks on Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m. starting May 1 and ending with a graduation ceremony and project on May 29.
Applicants must complete an enrollment form, COW Release, and pass a background check. These forms can be found here.
