- Saclepea ist eine Stadt in Liberia. Sie liegt im Nimba County und zählte im Jahr 2008 12.117 Einwohner. Aufgrund ihrer Nähe zur Elfenbeinküste, wurde sie mehrmals Schutzort für von Gewalt fliehenden Menschen. So geschehen im Jahr 2002, als während der Bürgerkrieges mehrere tausend Menschen in Nimba County Schutz suchten, sowie in den Jahren 2010 und 2011 im Zuge der dortigen Regierungskrise. Saclepeans are predominantly from the native Mah tribe, and they speak the Mano dialect. During Liberia’s civil war, Saclepea was a primary recruiting and training area for child soldiers, many of whom still reside in the city. Now, Saclepea hosts one of Liberia’s regional offices of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. A camp for refugees from the neighboring country of Côte d’Ivoire is situated on the outskirts of town. (en)
