The scenes in Ben's fantasy which spoof Karate films - particularly the bad dubbing that never seems even to get close to matching the onscreen actor's lips - were well done, even though they probably were not the first writers to use the gag. On the other hand, this episode has one of the most absurd plot devices of the entire run of 7 seasons of this series (and that's saying something, as the entire series was pretty banal): Maggie, Ben's mommy, attended all his Karate lessons, air-punching from the bench as if she were participating in the lesson itself, and hugging him with congratulations at every break. Ben never said a word of protest nor embarrassment. He appears, at least to this viewer, as 'whipped' beyond repair.
