The one thing that always bothered me about this episode is how badly miscast Jenny's straight friend is... This is not a bad thing, in fact's it's a good thing, being that this is a great show and who and what it's all about, but her straight friend doesn't look or seem tha straight... It's a problem of miscast... She should have been more cliche-straight, even maybe borderline old fashion for Jenny's revelation to matter...
Thus begins the problem that Bette has with those rascilly Christians... the problem here is, no one ever messes with the Muslim faith, or mocks it with pretentious modern art, to find out how THEY react towards their religion being mocked... Bette would be headless instead of just lectured on the phone, let's be honest here...
The good thing and bad thing here is the British actress who plays Dana's mom... the bag is, she's from OC and a Republican so of course, she's evil and totally cliche... They make it seem like anyone not a registered democrat are robots with no real feelings, sarcasm, they just exist like the living dead...
The good is, she was a gorgeous British beauty in the 1970's... She's old here, not great looking, but... Nice when classic actresses cross over, like Anne Archer in previous episodes...
Meanwhile Dana's little brother, who's a dead-ringer for Anthony Michael Hall from the Brat Pack years, has a story that's far too cliche... The Nirvana lyric, "everyone is gay" would fit this show... I mean, you have to have this on a show about lesbians, but sometimes you stretch logic for an agenda...
And the whole part about Dana having to come out to her parents... Sometimes it feels like they're in a cult, or their own religion... while making fun of other religions... Or something...
Anyhow, kind of a subpar episode compared to the hot stuff leading up.
