Henry Fonda For President

Maude wants to convince Henry Fonda to run for president.

Walter, Carol and Arthur find out that Maude has not even spoken to Fonda about being nominated. They go to a psychiatrist (Tim O'Connor) who had treated Maude years ago. He tells them that she may be manic depressive. She then convinces Fonda to come to their house, promising it is for a charity performance of his play "Darrow". Fonda arrives and sees a huge campaign poster "Fonda For President". He thinks the whole thing must be a joke. "Jimmy Stewart put you up to this, didn't he?" he says. He refuses to run and Maude goes into a depression, setting up Part 2.
