Meredith Marakovits called up to cover New York Yankees for ESPN 1050 AM

got the promotion from Triple-A to the major leagues.

The Northampton native and former

TV 2 Sports

reporter and member of the IronPigs TV Network broadcast team, accepted a posittion today at

ESPN 1050 AM

radio as a beat reporter for the

New York Yankees

. Marakovits served as a co-host of the

IronPigs

pregame show and as a sideline reporter for the Lehigh Valley franchise's games.

Service Electric Cable TV Sports Scene anchor/reporter Doug Heater will take Marakovits' place on the IronPigs telecast.

Marakovits, who starred in volleyball at Central Catholic High School and La Salle University, is also leaving her position with Sports Radio 950 AM in Philadelphia.
