While this outcome has seemed obvious to some from the jump, it is worth remembering that early mock drafts frequently listed Penn State EDGE Abdul Carter as the Titans’ presumed pick. Borgonzi reportedly told Kuharsky that he was taught, “if you find the quarterback that you want, and you think he’s a franchise quarterback, then you’re not going to pass on him.” Callahan echoed the sentiment by saying that “there is really no price on those guys,” meaning if the Titans identify a franchise quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft, they will not trade away the No. 1 overall pick, no matter what another team offers them.

Beane adds that signing Cook to a new deal “before he’s a free agent” in 2026 is still possible, but it sounds like contract talks have officially been tabled for now. Cook and his camp previously attempted to negotiate through public means, including a social media post in which Cook requested $15 million per year.

Berry then added that “all possibilities remain open with the No. 2 pick and that they’re still doing their diligence” and that “Abdul Carter’s stress fracture in his foot wouldn’t prohibit them from drafting him.” One possible read here is that Berry is hoping his comments spur another team to pay up for the right to draft Carter. Specifically, pouring cold water on the idea of drafting Ward is odd, though. The Browns desperately need a long-term solution at quarterback.

The Jets drafted Wilson (No. 10 overall) and Gardner (No. 4 overall) in the 2022 NFL Draft, which means both players are scheduled to hit free agency after the 2025 NFL season. Both players can be retained for the 2026 NFL season via their first-round contract’s fifth-year option, but the deadline to activate the option is May 1st. The 2025 NFL Draft takes place April 24th-April 26th. Jets general manager Darren Mougey can, of course, continue long-term negotiations after activating the option, but the May 1st activation date still serves as a soft deadline of sorts.

Credit to Mougey for keeping things fun. Taylor is highly unlikely to challenge Fields for the starting role but it is nice to know that the Jets plan to see what Fields can do. The latter player received a two-year, $40 million contract that indicated he would be given the starting role, but it also falls short of being an outright, serious commitment. Mougey reportedly said that the hope is for Fields to pull a career turnaround similar to what we saw from Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold. Things can always change, but drafting a rookie quarterback does not appear imminent for the Jets.

Jones added that the team is “very thrilled” about Prescott’s rehab but noted that the franchise quarterback will have “some limitations” throughout their offseason programs. Prescott suffered a season-ending hamstring injury in Week 9 and underwent surgery to correct the issue. He threw for 1,978-11-8 in the nine games he did appear in last season while completing just 64.7 percent of his passes — his lowest mark since 2017. The early tenor has been optimistic that Prescott will be ready for the regular season, but we’ve seen both Prescott and Stephen Jones stop short of giving a timetable for his return.

Aiyuk is due a $22.85 million bonus from the Niners if he is still on their roster by April 1st. While he’s been the subject of trade rumors this offseason, the Niners would presumably keep Aiyuk on the roster for the 2025 season if they have to pay out his bonus for the season. Schefter reports that “no deal currently is expected” by April 1st, so we’ll see if anything develops over the next two days. The star receiver is rehabbing a torn ACL and MCL that he suffered in Week 7 last season and seems unlikely to be ready for the start of next season, which would only further complicate a trade.

Harbaugh’s current deal was set to expire after the upcoming season. The 62-year-old head coach has guided the Ravens to double-digit regular season wins in each of the last three seasons. The team has advanced to the AFC Championship Game once during that span while making the playoffs each year, resulting in a 2-3 postseason record. This will be Harbaugh’s 18th season with the Ravens.

With her opening remarks, Russini succinctly stated that “it could happen.” Russini then outlined a hypothetical scenario in which Rodgers “hangs out, and the Minnesota Vikings pick up the phone” and ask him to join a quarterback competition. Internally, the Vikings have apparently maintained the view that “it would be a competition [for the starting quarterback job] this summer.” Russini also adds that “there is also a world where J.J. McCarthy shows up to OTAs and looks as sharp, and confident, and [as] ready to go as he saw him in training camp last year,” which, we are left to infer, would negate the need for a competitive veteran.

The Panthers’ wide receiver room still needs help. While last year’s first-rounder Xavier Legette prepares to enter his second season, the Panthers’ current WR2, Adam Thielen, prepares for his 12th year. McMillan, who is considered by many to be the top receiver in this year’s draft class, would give the Panthers a big, versatile receiver on the outside who could immediately contribute in three-receiver sets. Currently holding the No. 8 overall pick in this year’s draft, there’s a good chance McMillan will be on the board when the Panthers are on the clock next month.
