Nothing too ground breaking except the record breaking sibling complex show I've ever seen
Am new to the series
Was the fan service that got my attention at first along with the rather well drawn artwork initially
Premise itself is quite standard magic + high school competition with sprinkle of bigger organization political manipulation
But the base of the plot is a heavy dose of bi-directional sibling complex. It does spawn some cute and comedic moments while carefully toeing the balance avoding being too obnoxious
The rest of the cast are pretty much rather cameo in this universe of sibling complex
Artwork, animation and plot did fall sideways into mediocity mid season
Though for the fans that needs servicing, we're covered, especially that ED sequence, by god the female body artist needs a raise now
Has a catchy ED OST beat too
Overall for those into fan service, loves sibling romance with tinge of comedic feel. 5/10 for me, dont mind more of Miyuki's artwork though

Ohhhhh... yea.... bring on the fanservice... a bit more than usual even by this series' normal standards.
But yea, I think you probably can tell what kind of thing this is about. Less serious spinoff of the original story focusing on another lead character.

Even for fans. It's too much. Having seen "Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei" season 1 (by Madhouse) and season 2 (by 8bit) i can say only one thing: This is not Tatsuya. Even if he is side character here, he is too 'soft'. "Nine Schools Competition" has changed elements. Either Madhouse studio didn't foresight 'Mahouka Koukou no Yuutousei', or Connect studio didn't watch 'Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei' season 1. I re-watched "Nine Schools Competition Arc" to be sure about my memory.

It's def for fans, just extra SoL with lightweight conflicts on a scale that's much smaller than we currently have on the main series.
Tho can be pretty hard as a fans to watch coz of different studio. They do well in replicating the coloring & style, albeit at lower consistency. Also seems to have a hard time drawing Miyuki's eyes properly (I guess they've been animating Strike the Blood too much lol).
