Comedy? Yes!
Action? Some.
Spy X Assassin X Esper = Family? Yes.
This series does not perfect anything, but it does blend what it got darn well together. You will get laughs, some actions and a lot of fake family. All in a setting with great and cheesy spy world building. The “spy-ness” permeate the family itself since they all keep their identity and true self hidden from each others and because of Anya’s epser ability the thrill of it is always there.
It is executed with likeable characters and lands on being a cheerful comedy rather than a screaming one. The screen time for the family members is unbalanced and the hint of morbidity that exist because… well… isn’t explored in any noteworthy capacity, leaving the series on a very lighthearted note.
All in all, as someone not that interested in spy settings, I was drawn in by the reputation for a great comedy and found myself enjoying many aspects of the series. Onward to part 2.
It is obvious that Anya Forger form Spy x Family was inspired by Lucy/Nyuu from Elfen Lied. Young pink/red-haired girl with horns/ornaments, who pass childhood in lab between scientists. And have supernatural abilities.
Altrouth Anya is more comic parody on "secret lab experiment" idea, and shows totally different - that two personages probably closest as one inspired creation of other - in style like it was with Lina Inverse & Megumin in Slayers-Konosuba personage inspiration. As in some storyline situations & context - aside visual similarity.
