I did quite enjoy the first season, there was progression development of characters and lead-up for his eventual reunification with those that had transferred with him.
This series resolves all questions, but by the end of it I felt as if the mystery might have been way better than the resolution. I have to categorize this season it would be:
Filler episodes and parody, side-characters are main characters and put everything else on ice (also lets return them to a high-school b/c why not, every fantasy realm has them)

Season 1 was pretty good. In this season, the first is still fine but the second part of this season is pretty lame. As if an anime series just turned into a complete new variety show.

I'll be honest, this season was rough. What I did enjoy about this season was the classmate subplot that was focused on in S1, either got forgotten or ignored. However, this season tried to parody a bunch of troupes from other shounen anime, but every time that happened... just felt forced. Overall, even if you enjoyed the prior season, this season still might be difficult to get through.

This season can be split in 2 halves. First is more or less ok, academy life as professor. The problem starts in 2nd part, you don't feel any flow of the story, you don't even follow for most of it MC, feels like random scenes, more like different anime, which makes no sense (wtf is this 7th episode??). Overall it is continuation, so if you enjoyed S1, you might want to try this too, just don't expect too much. Personally I had to force myself to watch last episodes, generally from the 1st scene of 1st episode MC has dream which shows how the final fight will be, bad idea. 1st season was adventurous comedy, here both aspects are dropped, nothing much left to enjoy.

If you REALLY love the first season, you MIGHT enjoy this one.
For me, the first season was humorous, had some interesting moments, and was a good filler. This season.... ugh. This was a struggle to finish. Everything felt incredibly forced, over-done, and patched together. Basically it felt like they played darts and threw whatever ideas came up from those darts into the series.
