The main protagonist of the story, Kana lost her parents and, more recently, her grandmother prior to the events of the story. When collectors began taking her grandmother's possessions, Kana fled, believing they would take her as well. Looking for a new place to live, she ended up at a newspaper distribution center, Fuhshin Shinbun, where the story takes place.
