Shoujo Comic (commonly abbreviated to 少コミ Shoukomi, Sho-Comi or Shoucomi) is a shoujo manga magazine published semimonthly by Shogakukan. It was originally published monthly (1968-1969), then semimonthly (1969-1970), then weekly (1970-1978), and in 1978 it became a semimonthly magazine again (although the word "weekly" was removed from the magazine's title only in 1991). During the 70s, many influential shoujo manga ran in Shoujo Comic. Hagio Moto's works and Takemiya Keiko's works were particularly groundbreaking.
The manga it features is marketed to appeal to girls from late middle school through high school. Originally the manga in Shoujo Comic were very tame, and rarely featured anything that could be considered sexual in content, not even kissing scenes. Over time, with successful stories such as Shinjou Mayu's series Kaikan Phrase (Sensual Phrase), which was heavy in sexual content, Shoujo Comic is now seen as having more sexual content than its competitors Margaret and Hana to Yume.
The manga series from this magazine are later compiled and published in book form (tankoubon) under the Flower Comics imprint.
