RAAF Pilots earn RAF wings!! In a strong display of the close ties between the #AusAirForce and the #RoyalAirForce, the first RAAF pilots to undergo ab initio training in the United Kingdom have received their Wings! 🇬🇧 🇦🇺 ✈️ After two years of training, Pilot Officer's Zack Burton and Astrid Streeter-Smith are now heading back to Australia. Innovation celebration!! 🙌🎉 #AusAirForce celebrates 10 years of innovation under Plan Jericho at Avalon Australian International Airshow. 🛩️✈️ Plan Jericho was challenged to technologically and culturally integrate the new fifth generation capabilities introduced into service in 2015. A powerful reunion!! 🛩️🎖️ Avalon Australian International Airshow, 100-year-old Warrant Officer (ret'd) John McDonald sat in the cockpit of a static Spitfire for the first time in almost 80 years. John had a chance to speak with @Warrant Officer of the Air Force Australia and aviators from #AusAirForce. During the Second World War, John had been a fighter pilot in the Royal Australian Air Force where he flew Spitfires over the unforgiving skies of Europe. His last mission flying a Spitfire was escorting a bomber in November 1945. Australia’s first female astronaut, and first astronaut to qualify under the Australian flag 🇦🇺, Group Captain Katherine Bennell-Pegg engaged with #AusAirForce aviators at #AIA25! 👩🚀 GPCAPT Bennell-Pegg got to meet Military Working Dogs (and puppies 🐕), tour capabilities ✈, and even get to sit in the front seat of a F/A-18F Super Hornet.
