These tariffs take effect from 12:01 am on 5 April 2025 EDT (3:01 pm Saturday 5 April AEDT). Austrade is working closely with its partners in government and industry to support Australian businesses. Acusensus is an ASX-listed road safety tech company with global ambitions. 🚧🌏 But for founder Alexander Jannink and his team, growth is about more than winning contracts. The business has impact at its core, and a mission to prevent traffic accidents, trauma and fatalities around the world. Acusensus works to prevent dangerous driving behaviours. Its flagship Heads-Up product uses AI-enabled cameras to identify drivers using mobile phones or failing to wear seatbelts. It also detects speeding, and cars driving in closed lanes. 🚘🔎 The software identifies and photographs potential illegal behaviour and sends the relevant images to a team of humans for review. Acusensus recently secured a NZ$92 million nationwide speed enforcement contract with the New Zealand Transport Agency Waka Kotahi. It’s the first nationwide rollout of this kind of technology, and one of New Zealand’s biggest ever investments in road safety tech. The company is also on the ground in Australia, the US, the UK, India and Europe. Australia is becoming a thriving spaceport ecosystem.🚀✅ In February, the first return of a commercial payload from space to an Australian commercial site—the W-2 Varda space capsule housing in-space manufactured pharmaceuticals—shone a spotlight on Australia’s growth as a testbed for new space vehicles. From curing diseases, manufacturing new materials, reducing flight times across the Atlantic to a matter of hours, and moving cargo in reduced timeframes, Australia is uniquely positioned to pioneer this transition.💡 With private companies driving advances, the Australian government has played an indispensable role in commercialising space. The Australian Space Agency has developed rules making launch and returns both safe and commercially sustainable. “Austrade has attracted global space companies to Australia and helped Australian space companies find global customers,” says Anthony Weymouth, Head of Technology, Defence and Space at Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade). Australia possesses a rare combination of assets.🌏 Our expansive, sparsely populated interior provides ideal landing zones that minimise risk to infrastructure and people, combines with our stable political environment and established technological expertise.
