Brett Stevens,Victoria's commissioner to Greater China visited Shanghai Jiangyang Aquatic Products Wholesale Market together with Fiona Letos, Executive Director of Trade, Global Engagement, International Education and #LuisaLu, Senior Trade Manager. We engaged in in-depth discussions with the representatives of the #ShanghaiFisheriesTradeAssociation, #JiangyangMarket Management Company, and key importers in the Market. The visit aimed to understand the current landscape of China's imported #seafood market, covering the overview of imported seafood demand (market size, growth trends, consumer preferences), Jiangyang Market's role in premium seafood import and distribution, and the competitive landscape including key suppliers, price trends and popular products.    Jiangyang Aquatic Products Market, a crucial player in the industry, handles a staggering 600,000 tonnes of wholesale volume, with a transaction value hitting 45 billion RMB ($9.6 billion AUD) annually. It is not only the main supply channel for aquatic products in Shanghai and a distribution center in the Yangtze River Delta region but also a transit point for imported seafood to the cities across China.    Through this visit, opportunities were explored by introducing premium products from #Victoria, such as #RockLobsters and #abalones to the market, seeking potential partnerships with local importers, distributors and wholesalers, and understanding key requirements for entering and expanding in the Chinese market. Victorian government will actively facilitate the establishment of cooperation intentions and communication channels with Jiangyang Market and Shanghai Fisheries Industry Association, aiming to formulate new marketing strategies and to facilitate Victorian exporters a smoother entry, more efficient logistics, and increased brand visibility in one of China’s most important seafood trading hubs.
