Negotiation is so much more than the transaction itself; trust and relationship are vital. And these two elements play a large role in defining your brand value... https://lnkd.in/g5KdvG9d #Negotiation #NegotiationSkills #Trust #Relationship #Enshittification #Scotwork Ben Byth Keith Stacey

We all agree honesty is the best policy... But why are so many reluctant when it comes to a negotiation? https://lnkd.in/gkQgE-ph #Negotiation #Dealmaking #Honesty #Scotwork

What's your approach when things get circular? #Negotiation #NegotiationSkills #DealMaking #ScotworkStyle
I'm trying out a new line "I think we have admired the problem long enough!" and hoping it will be the answer to prolonged debate and circular argument 😁. Do you have a line that works? Way too often we find ourselves wading through argument, typically internally with colleagues, and it generally adds very little value. In the end we all start resenting each other, we stop enjoying work, and it becomes a massive time/energy/resource sink. Negotiators are great at recognising it has stopped moving forward and breaking this circular argument cycle. The best negotiators do it without damaging relationships, instead the really good negotiators do it while improving the relationships. #negotiation #tantrum #delay #postpone #circularargument #scotworknegotiation

The recent Oval Office clash between President Trump and President Zelensky offered a rare glimpse into high-stakes negotiations - along with a crucial lesson for all of us. When the stakes are high, negotiations are public, or our sense of fairness is challenged, it becomes increasingly difficult to hear what matters to our counterpart. And when that happens, simple negotiating opportunities are easily missed. #Negotiation #NegotiationSkills #DealMaking #ScotworkStyle #Scotwork Ben Byth

When it comes to negotiation, it’s easy to fall into the trap of rigid positions- but that’s a recipe for deadlock. Instead, we need to embrace the dynamic nature of negotiation. Be open to new ideas, explore different possibilities, and don’t be afraid to think outside the box. A little creativity can go a long way in finding solutions that benefit everyone 🔄 Great advice from Philip Joynes 🎯 #Negotiation #MutualGain #DealMaking #ScotworkStyle #Scotwork

Congratulations to the first graduating class of Talbot Sayer's M&A Academy! It was a real privilege to be a part of their journey over the past 12 months and to assist in developing some of the key skills that will enable them to become more effective negotiators and deliver strong client outcomes in the long-term. #Negotiation #NegotiationSkills #NegotiationTraining #Scotwork
Talbot Sayer is pleased to announce that members of the first cohort of its M&A Academy (class of 2024) have graduated. The program consists of 28 modules broken into 4 terms and takes a year to complete. The sessions cover all aspects of regulated and unregulated M&A along with tailored negotiation training. Tim Sayer noted that 'Our only two focusses are delivering the best possible outcomes to clients and providing a first-class learning environment for our team. The M&A Academy assists in achieving both of these objectives. Based on what we see, the combination of significant deal flow and structured learning results in our junior lawyers being way ahead of their peers at other firms'.

Ben Byth recently assisted one of our clients with a request that might seem quite odd when taken at face value: he helped them train their counterpart to negotiate back against them.... An unusual and uncommon request for sure, but in actual fact - it's quite a brilliant concept as Ben explains below 👇 #Negotiation #MutualGainNegotiation #EnterpriseBargainingAgreement #ScotworkClientStories #Scotwork

Rejected proposal? What's your next step? Having your proposal rejected can leave you feeling stuck and tempted to persuade and plead your case, often to no avail. Scotwork Consultant Mark Rizkalla shares how he recently helped a client facing this exact problem with a government agency. They were about to make a common mistake – simply rejustifying their original proposal. Instead, Mark was able to assist them to turn a rejected proposal into a renewed opportunity by developing a strong negotiation strategy, identifying new variables, and uncovering sources of power. #Negotiation #NegotiationStrategy #DealMaking #ScotworkClientStories #Scotwork Ben Byth
