$6,355,000 That's how much we helped a furniture brand generate in Q1 2024. A massive increase during the slowest period of their business. Up 33% compared to last year. All through email and SMS. No ads. We got this result by NOT listening to the client...Let me explain. It's widespread/normal for a client to share their top 1-5 competitors with you and then ask you to copy them as they think that will move the needle forward. Our client, whom we made $6,000,000 for, asked us to do this. Wrong...Wrong...Wrong. Here was my answer back to them... "Why would you want to be the same as your competitor? Don't you want to stand out? I get that looking at your competitors and then reverse engineering some of what works for them is a sound idea, but to copy their design and their technical set-up entirely? No, my brother/sister you are violating yourself and your business 😁 " Instead, we looked at a leading sportswear brand (thanks to some previous research) and applied their strategy to our client's account. Yes, we modelled our approach to help a furniture brand grow by reverse engineering a sports brand and completely ignoring what the client wanted us to do... The result - $6,000,000 in sales. That's it!

Really strong quarter for my client. They are an Aussie Ecommerce Supplement company. With 45% growth in revenue! Mainly Google ads but with some Meta, TikTok, email and Bing. I always said ecommerce business or shopify store is a cashflow machine. I never built this brand with the intention of scaling it to $1m/mo (even tho I could have) - its sole purpose since inception has been generating substantially more cash inflow than outflow. You can’t scale every brand you own. It’s impossible. Realistically, you can only ever truly scale one store if you’re bootstrapping - but there’s nothing wrong with that. Different brands have different purposes. I always treat ecom stores as digital real estate. The best real estate investors don’t just scoop up the biggest, flashiest properties on the market - sometimes you need the smaller, uglier buildings that are yielding higher returns. 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲, 𝗜’𝗱 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗮 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝘁 $𝟱𝟬𝗸/𝗺𝗼 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝟰𝟬% 𝗻𝗲𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗮 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝘁 $𝟮𝟬𝟬𝗸/𝗺𝗼 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝟭𝟬%. More revenue = more problems. As an entrepreneur, exiting should always be on your mind. If you want to make cash, you have to focus on this seriously. Then actually exit. That’s where the biggest payday comes. If you ask most brand owners what their brand is worth, they wouldn’t have a clue. I’m still trying to figure out the exact format I want to use, but I think I’ll just start by giving you updates on the 3 Shopify EMD projects, on a weekly basis and I’ll let the format develop over time. Out of the 3 EMD projects, 1 targets the US, and 2 target Australia, we’ll call the US project, Project A, and the Australian projects, B and C. Here are the updates! Project A) Spent the week arranging a lot of the access, moving billing details from one card to another, getting a VA in place with my business partner, to fulfill the orders, and identifying a great potential candidate to run the operations and manage the project. We’re still figuring out exactly what we’re going to do with the prices (we believe we need to increase prices to become profitable on Google Ads), but we’ll give it some more time. Until then, the main focus is collecting as many 5-star reviews as possible, and getting Google Ads profitable, we’ll also start building out some email flows/automation shortly. Project B) This is the project that made 4 sales last week, exclusively from organic traffic with no links, no content, no collection texts, just 100-something collections created, on-page optimized, and indexed, along with about 250 products added to the store. This week we added about 200 additional products from new suppliers to further fill out the collection pages, and the majority of the week was dedicated to image enhancement. Unfortunately, the images we get from suppliers usually aren’t of the highest quality (this is a super good opportunity for any supplier to up their game by the way - improve your image quality). Because of that, we’ve bulk-exported all product images, and we’re using an AI image enhancer to bring up the quality of the images and make the entire brand look more premium. We should have this fully done in the next few days, and on Friday we have a meeting to launch Google Ads, which I’m incredibly excited about. Project C) This one is the most insane because we literally haven’t even created any collections, we haven’t added anything to the homepage and the site doesn’t even have a navigation menu… Yet, somehow we got a $300 order in last week. Absolutely nuts. This is a higher ticket store, which has the potential to do a few million a month in revenue once it’s running at full speed… But because the project is so massive, with so many product categories, it is taking us quite a while to plan out all the keyword research, as we’re going to be targeting over 6M keywords. I’ll be getting an update shortly from my team on when this will be ready, but other than that, this week we mainly planned out the homepage, the theme we’re going to use and we’re going to start with the site layout build-out process. Other than that, I also added all 3 projects into our indexing tool a few days ago, to ensure as many product pages get indexed as possible, and that’s that. Any feedback on the format of this post?

Who's supervising the bots? 𝗨𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮 𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝗺𝗯... Especially if you're rushing into them thinking they're some silver bullet. Automations can fail silently, with no alarms or red flags to let you know, until you discover that they're broken. It's like not talking through an argument. On the surface, nothing changes. Until it does, and your partner is walking out the door. (Never sleep on an unresolved argument people!) So, how do you stop this quiet chaos from spreading through your business? ➊ Firstly - don't set and forget. Treat automations like the tools they are. ➋ Secondly (and the point of this post) - ensure that you assign a Supervisor to your automations, in the same way as you'd assign an owner to a KPI. 3 Lessons From The Godfather Of Advertising Dan S Kennedy was at his ‘No-BS’ Best 👇 Last month I took the timeout of my busy schedule to cross off a bucket-list item… To meet this old cranky dude who spit absolute facts for 3 days straight. Sharing 40 years of advertising and direct response wisdom. I flew all the way to Dallas, Texas for it. At considerable cost. From a time and money perspective. And it was worth every penny. Here were my 3 biggest takeaways from the Godfather: 1/ The Majority Is Almost Always Wrong The super successful are in the top 5%. That means that 95% of the rest aren’t super successful. This is an unpopular opinion… Especially in today’s society. But it’s extremely important if you operate in the results economy. (AKA the real world) There are always going to be winners and losers. And I want to be on the winning side. So you must be willing to ignore the opinions of 95% of people out there. And block out their opinions… And instead rely on objective facts and results to make great advertising. 2/ One Is The Worst Number In Business Businesses built on ONE of anything are destined to fail… Let me explain… Most businesses that we see in our space… Are built off only one lead source. Maybe it’s referrals… Cold emails...  LinkedIn DMs... Or a veteran BDM who can’t do anything in the business except sell… But that’s all they’ve got. Just a reliance on ONE thing. And when that thing breaks. The business breaks. So you must diversify. Because diversity = stability. Once you stop relying on one… - Staff member - Supplier - Service line - Traffic source It gives you complete peace of mind. And your business is no longer built on a house of cards. This is especially true in marketing and business building. Never forget… One is the most dangerous number in business. 3/ Use Blunt Instrument Instead Of Surgical Tools I see this all the time. People running AB tests on stuff that doesn’t work. They blurt out excitedly… ‘We should test that!’ No… Not really. You can’t optimise ZERO. It’s way easier and faster to get the sledgehammer out. And change things up radically in your marketing. New Offer. New Copy. New Campaign. New Audience. New Team. These are the blunt instruments at your disposal to get where you want to go faster. If you want to make serious improvements… Get the sledgehammer out. ______ Getting out and taking some time to myself was also equally awesome. Feeling refreshed and recharged. And I’ve got a whole bunch of mental models to use to grow my business. 🎙 PSA announcement regarding pop ups… Can you please wait for your page to fully load before serving customers a pop up. When you click an Instagram ad for most fashion brands in Australia you are served a pop up to collect your email before the page has even fully loaded! ❓ As a new customer I am not sure I like your brand yet, can you give me a few seconds please before with frustration I have to find the tiny x to continue browsing. 💸 I know email is so important for cart abandonment and retention but you are leaving money on the table if you serve the pop up before the page has even properly loaded. Had the pop up been served once I had browsed the page I would have been more willing to share my details. However, since I closed it immediately, I am not going to scroll down to the bottom of your site on my own accord to provide it to you. 🙏 TIA from your target customer. Record month for Aussie ecommerce client. Just a cheeky 322% YOY growth. The best bit is profitability is still extremely healthy due to ROAS still climbing. Google still drives the bulk of their sales. But Meta and TikTok have recently been added. With a heavy UGC focus. Currently expanding the top of funnel and prospecting channels on Google for them as we’re starting to get close to tapping out pmax. When I say close I still think there is another 100k per month in it. When trying to expand out I always add standard shopping (especially for zombie and products not being seen much). The. I add in Search to best selling search terms and best selling products. Dynamic search comes next to find some new keywords. Broad match with a target roas and brand excluded is doing wonders as well. Then we’re also busy adding in demand gen and YouTube. See you at $400k soon. PS.
