The twelfth tip, if you are rethinking your website content, is to give thought to information that would be helpful to gather. TIP 12: Plan your enquiry form. Enquiry forms are an important part of your website. And, they often receive little or no consideration. Are you interested in building an email list? Great! Include an option for people to opt in to receive email updates, promotional offers or further information. Want to know more about the person who is completing your enquiry form? Easy. Include multiple-choice radial buttons or drop down menus in your contact form. Create opportunities for prospective customers to tell you more about themselves. Everything comes back to who you’re in business to serve. See TIP 1: Start with your customers. If you're doing this in email subject lines, just stop ⛔️ Please! - Hey Kay, I saw you on the podcast - Re: Our meeting Kay - 10x your leads Kay - About your enquiry Kay - Can we meet Kay? Can you see the common thread? Each of them used my name in the Subject Line. 👉 I want you to STOP doing this. It's time for responsible email senders to stop using first name personalisation in the subject line 🙅 🤔 But Kay, loads of email gurus have said loads of times to definitely always use first name in the subject line....? Well sure - ONCE UPON A TIME the email gurus had a point, and subject lines with their name in got opened better, and created a sense of trust and connection more quickly. BUT NOT NOW Each of those email subject lines was sent this week to one of my inboxes 📨 And each of them was as spammy as spam could be. They were all the spammiest spam you ever did see 😱 And they all went straight into my junk folder marked as highly toxic SPAM ☢️ 🗑️ Spammers armed with AI 🤖 are inserting first names into Subject Lines at a massively higher rate than pre-AI. Inbox humans and machines are noticing this pattern: FIRST NAME IN SUBJECT LINE = LIKELY TO BE SPAM If you don't stop using First Name personalisation in your subject lines, you ARE going to start getting spam-flagged 🚩 Save yourself my friends. Many will be familiar with the practice of asking for referrals in business networking groups but do you have a process for asking your existing and past clients for referrals? Here are my 5 tops tips on referrals. 1. When asking your business connections be specific about who you want to be introduced to. This makes it easy for other business owners to identify who they know 2. When asking your clients to refer you make sure they know what a good referral looks like 3. Who's supervising the bots? 𝗨𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮 𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝗺𝗯... Especially if you're rushing into them thinking they're some silver bullet. Automations can fail silently, with no alarms or red flags to let you know, until you discover that they're broken. It's like not talking through an argument. On the surface, nothing changes. Until it does, and your partner is walking out the door. (Never sleep on an unresolved argument people!) So, how do you stop this quiet chaos from spreading through your business? ➊ Firstly - don't set and forget. Treat automations like the tools they are. ➋ Secondly (and the point of this post) - ensure that you assign a Supervisor to your automations, in the same way as you'd assign an owner to a KPI.
