Bringing down costs, powering up sustainability ⚡ More than 46 million Europeans face energy poverty and we’re taking action to change that. Our Affordable Energy Action Plan will save Europeans up to €130 billion annually by 2030 and up to €260 billion annually by 2040 by, among others: 📉 Cutting taxation – Encouraging EU countries to reduce taxes and levies on electricity. ⚡ Incentivising consumers to use energy when and where it's cheapest – Adapting network charges in the energy bill. ⚖️ Empowering consumers – Easier supplier switching, flexible billing for lower-income households, and enabling local renewable energy sharing. 🔌 Decoupling retail electricity bills from volatile gas markets – Boosting long-term electricity supply contracts. ☀️ Accelerating clean energy – Speeding up approvals for new renewable projects and energy infrastructure. A more renewables-based, flexible, and integrated electricity system could cut wholesale electricity prices by 40% across the EU. More info: https://europa.eu/!xvrRC7
