Today is International Fact-checking Day ✔️ Fact-checking is more important than ever. Independent fact checkers give you the power to see what is a fact and what is not. They are key to a safe information space where freedom of expression can thrive. Critical thinking and responsible sharing are our strongest moves to counter false claims online. Before posting or forwarding information, consider: ✅ Is this from a reliable source? Verify with official news outlets or trusted fact-checking organizations. 🔍 Can this be verified elsewhere? Cross-check with multiple credible sources. 📢 Is it meant to inform or manipulate? Watch for sensationalized or emotionally charged content that may distort facts.

Bringing down costs, powering up sustainability ⚡ More than 46 million Europeans face energy poverty and we’re taking action to change that. Our Affordable Energy Action Plan will save Europeans up to €130 billion annually by 2030 and up to €260 billion annually by 2040 by, among others: 📉 Cutting taxation – Encouraging EU countries to reduce taxes and levies on electricity. ⚡ Incentivising consumers to use energy when and where it's cheapest – Adapting network charges in the energy bill. ⚖️ Empowering consumers – Easier supplier switching, flexible billing for lower-income households, and enabling local renewable energy sharing. 🔌 Decoupling retail electricity bills from volatile gas markets – Boosting long-term electricity supply contracts. ☀️ Accelerating clean energy – Speeding up approvals for new renewable projects and energy infrastructure. A more renewables-based, flexible, and integrated electricity system could cut wholesale electricity prices by 40% across the EU. More info: https://europa.eu/!xvrRC7

Nearly one million hectares were burned in the country – more than twice the area burned in the European Union during the same period. The EU is committed to helping Ukrainians strengthen their rescue and fire services by providing them with machinery and protective equipment. With Ukraine – and its brave firefighters – for as long as it takes. More: https://europa.eu/!fxW7MD #StandWithUkraine
