💡Insights from the bio.be Annual Event!  This afternoon, I attended the Bio.Be Annual Event, which focused on next-gen vaccines and our local footprint and position in the value chain. 👉 Here are my key takeaways: 1️⃣ 𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐠𝐢𝐮𝐦’𝐬 𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩: Belgium ranks first globally in vaccine exports, even after the pandemic! 2️⃣ 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬: To continue facilitating clinical studies for vaccine development, we need more volunteers, especially to test prophylactic vaccines. 3️⃣ 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬: During crises or pandemics, we need to act 10x faster... and with 10x higher volumes. Preparation is crucial, but true readiness comes from strong partnerships. 🚀 Exciting Milestone Reached: Phase 2a Study for LIB-01 Begins! 🚀 We’re thrilled to share that Dicot Pharma AB has received regulatory approval to initiate the Phase 2a clinical trial of LIB-01, a promising candidate for treating erectile dysfunction. This placebo-controlled study will take place across Sweden, Denmark, and here in the Netherlands, with CTC Netherlands as one of the six clinical sites involved. The trial will evaluate LIB-01's efficacy in 140 patients over an eight-week period, with participant screening set to start soon. We’re proud to contribute to this study alongside the dedicated team at CTC Clinical Trial Consultants AB and look forward to supporting Dicot Pharma's journey toward advancing treatment options for erectile dysfunction. I often get asked why I decided to buy OM Pharma with my partners. Last week’s fascinating ARTE documentary, exploring microbes, summarized well the potential impact of our work.    During the documentary, experts explain the positive role of microbes on our immune system, and how individuals who live in harmony with environmental biodiversity, including animals, plants, and in particular microbes, are better protected against asthma and allergies.   One of the experts in this subject is Prof. Erika Von Mutius, who made a breakthrough alongside Prof. Donata Vercelli in their publication focused on Amish and Hutterite children-published in the New England Journal of Medicine (#NEJM) in 2016. Numerous other studies conducted worldwide also confirm that microbes (viruses, bacteria, parasites, and fungi) present in the environment and in the digestive tract (microbiota) educate and train our immune system from an early age.   I’m proud that at OM Pharma we are at the forefront of research and development into bacterial lysates. Getting closer to taking humans as a model for humans is therapeutic target identification, the studio will act as a start-up factory leveraging the most advanced machine learning innovations on human multiomics big data. With a focus on rare diseases, and more common diseases related to them through gene regulatory networks, QBVS will work hand in hand with Louvain4Rare coordinated by Prof Olivier Devuyst and TRAIL - Trusted AI Labs co-founded by Prof Benoit Macq.
