SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (March 13, 2025) – PeaceHealth and Lifepoint Rehabilitation, a business unit of Lifepoint Health, officially broke ground on an inpatient rehabilitation hospital to be located near International Way in Springfield.
The stand-alone building, which will feature 42 inpatient beds, will be located near the corner of Maple Island Road and East Game Farm Road in Springfield, next to PeaceHealth’s existing RiverBend Annex.
The hospital will be majority owned by PeaceHealth through a joint venture board of directors with Lifepoint Rehabilitation.
“We understand that rehabilitation is not just about regaining strength; it’s about rebuilding confidence and restoring hope,” said Alicia Beymer, chief administrative officer, PeaceHealth. “Through our partnership with Lifepoint, our inpatient rehabilitation program is not just merely a service we provide – we are here to empower our patients, to stand by them in their moments of vulnerability, and celebrate their victories, big and small.”
The new 66,000-square-foot facility will feature the region’s first traumatic brain injury unit and increase capacity over PeaceHealth and Lifepoint Rehabilitation’s current 27-bed unit at nearby PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend.
It will provide intensive nursing, and physical, occupational and speech pathology services for adults recovering from conditions such as stroke, neurological disease, brain or spinal cord injury, and other debilitating illnesses or injuries. This expansion will increase access to inpatient rehabilitation services in the region, addressing a significant community need and allowing patients to stay closer to home for care. Lifepoint Rehabilitation will manage the day-to-day operations of the facility, as it currently does for the rehabilitation unit at RiverBend. That unit was recently awarded on Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers 2024.
“Today is an exciting day for our team at Lifepoint Rehabilitation,” said Dave Stark, chief operating officer, Lifepoint Rehabilitation. “We know PeaceHealth shares our commitment to providing patient-centered care, and we’re proud to see PeaceHealth Rehabilitation Hospital – Oregon’s first stand-alone rehabilitation facility – begin a new chapter in specialty care for the region. We look forward to all that we will accomplish together with our colleagues at PeaceHealth as we advance our mission of making communities healthier.”
All services currently provided at the inpatient rehabilitation unit in RiverBend will transition to the new facility when it opens. Upon completion, the hospital will join Lifepoint Rehabilitation’s growing network of more than 45 inpatient rehabilitation facilities across the country.
