On this week's episode of the Atlantic Canada's Hydrogen Journey podcast Derek Estabrook talked to Trent Vichie, CEO and Founder of EverWind Fuels and Lukas Schuffelen, a Partner at BET Consulting GmbH about Atlantic Canada's green hydrogen export opportunity. Demand for green hydrogen in Western Europe is growing and several large green hydrogen projects have been proposed across Atlantic Canada - projects that could turn the region into a global leader in green energy. But potential doesn’t guarantee success. For green hydrogen to take off, the economics have to work - for hydrogen producers in Atlantic Canada...and for buyers in Europe. Infrastructure, investment, regulations, policies, and customer commitments all need to align before the first green hydrogen shipment leaves our region. Supporting the development of an economically-viable clean hydrogen value chain in Atlantic Canada.
About us
Created to support the development of an economically-viable clean hydrogen value chain, the Alliance will work to enable the transition to a prosperous low-carbon economy in Atlantic Canada. Low-carbon hydrogen will be an essential part of the region’s energy mix to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. Hydrogen will complement advances in electrification and support difficult to decarbonize sectors like industrial processes, heavy transportation, the marine sector and some power generation.
