Karen is a communications specialist, an international humanitarian worker and passionate advocate for women and girls caught in poverty and conflict. She has served with a variety of relief and development agencies in Africa and Asia, including World Vision, the Gates Foundation and Children Believe.  Karen was the first female regional communications director at World Vision International, covering West Africa, including war zones, for nearly a decade. In 2010, she became communications director for African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD), promoting the work of over 500 African women agricultural scientists. She later served during the Ebola epidemic in Sierra Leone and led communications for World Vision's Rohingya Refugee Response based in southern Bangladesh from 2018-2021. Now retired, Karen volunteers with Guelph Immigration Services to support refugee women and immigrants. She holds a Bachelor of Journalism from Carleton University and a Public Relations certificate from Toronto Metropolitan University. Karen completes our panel of illustrious speakers: Keynote Muneeza Sheikh, Employment and Human Rights Lawyer, Angelina Yee, MD Integrative Hormone Specialist and Juliann Ng, element54 with our survey results. With over 30 years of experience in the research and insights consulting sector, Susan Sanei-Stamp (she/her), CAIP, MBA currently leads the Employee Listening team at RBC. Her career journey began with her mother, who inspired and guided her throughout her professional path. As a market research veteran, Susan’s mother taught her the importance of leadership, curiosity, and kindness. Susan has a deep passion for understanding human experiences—what people think, feel, and need—and how these insights influence their actions. International Women’s Day is especially meaningful to her as a working parent who believes, "it’s possible to do it all once you learn your goal posts can be moved".
