Pricing is a critical value driver in SaaS — yet, short of working with an external specialised firm like Willingness To Pay (WTP), the problem is there’s often a real shortage of common language, methodologies, and accessible communities to help operators (either entrepreneurs or intrapreneurs) level up their pricing strategy and execution. Enter our new announcement: PricingSaaS x WTP CoLab 🚀 OK, here's how my simple brain breaks it down.. 1.  “Where's a dedicated, active space where I can exchange pricing ideas, get feedback, and see what’s working for others?” PricingSaaS will take over the 500+ person SaaS Pricing community founded by WTP on Skool and grow it into the #1 SaaS pricing community online. Expect direct access to peer-driven support—plus more resources, events, and discussions around the nuances of SaaS pricing. 2. “Where can I get reliable, up-to-date SaaS pricing data along with expert interpretation?” PricingSaaS and WTP will co-develop the community with the sum of their services. PricingSaaS will monitor 3,000+ SaaS pricing pages daily creating a unique dataset to spot trends, patterns, and shifts in real time. WTP will layer on its taxonomy, structure, and commentary bringing more organized, comprehensive, and actionable pricing intelligence for everyone subscribed.   3. "How can I stay ahead of new trends and best practices in SaaS pricing?” PricingSaaS x WTP will host ongoing joint webinars for the SaaS Pricing community contributors. These regular deep dives will bring real-time discussions, Q&A, and expert commentary on fresh insights straight to SaaS operators craving continuous learning. 4. “Who can guide us with deep pricing expertise and strategic consulting so we truly maximize revenue?” WTP becomes the official, long-term consulting sponsor of PricingSaaS ensures the community (and its members) benefit from seasoned pricing professionals who can bring proven methodologies and insights to the table. ✅ ✅ ✅ So, now what.… Go to pricingsaas.com and subscribe -> This will give you the newsletters and reports and webinar invites on a recurring basis. Go to skool.com/saas-pricing and join the community.

Big announcement for PricingSaaS 👀 But a quick backstory first... A couple years ago, I read a book called The Pricing Roadmap by Ulrik Lehrskov-Schmidt. My first thought: “This is the best pricing book I’ve ever read.” My second thought: “I need to work with Ulrik if I ever get the chance.” Fast forward to today, and I’m thrilled to announce that PricingSaaS is partnering with Ulrik and WillingnessToPay.com to make SaaS pricing easier for operators everywhere 🎉 Here’s the deal: 👉🏼 WillingnessToPay will become the exclusive long-term consulting partner of PricingSaaS. 👉🏼 PricingSaaS will take over the WillingnessToPay community of 500+ pricing enthusiasts (big plans here). 👉🏼 WillingnessToPay will support monthly PricingSaaS reports with commentary and live webinars, complementing our data with expert analysis. 👉🏼 WillingnessToPay will help develop the PricingSaaS research product — giving operators and investors the latest intel across the SaaS landscape. For those who don’t know, Ulrik has single-handedly built an 8-figure consulting business. He recently brought on Christopher Truce to take it to the next level, and we can’t wait to support their growth. On the PricingSaaS side, we have big plans. In the age of AI, pricing is more important than ever. We believe more SaaS startups and scale-ups would invest in pricing if there was an accessible alternative to hiring a FTE or working with a consultant. At PricingSaaS, we’re building that alternative. With our research product and community, we’re building a go-to destination to: 👉🏼 Track pricing news and trends to stay ahead of the curve 👉🏼 Find examples of pricing and packaging strategies you want to implement 👉🏼 Tap into a network of operators and experts that can help along the way Keep an eye out for updates — we’ve got more big news in the coming weeks. For now, there are 2 things you can do: 1️⃣ Go to pricingsaas (dot) com and subscribe — you’ll get access to our weekly newsletter, monthly reports and webinars (no noise, pure signal). 2️⃣ Go to skool (dot) com /about/SaaSPricing and join the community. We'll see you there, and can’t wait to show you what we’re building 🏗️

B2B SaaS Pricing Expert I Complex Products & Transformations I 150+ Projects Done

Big announcement: Willingness To Pay + PricingSaaS. Started talking with Rob Litterst erst and John Kotowski back in September and it just became clear that we needed to do something together. We were both focused on pricing as a huge value driver in SaaS that is just under developed: it lacks common language, common methodology and a community where SaaS operators can share pricing knowledge and experience. ✔️ This PricingSaaS + WillingnessToPay partnership will solve that. So we are now ready to announce: ▪️ WillingnessToPay will become the official and exclusive long-term consulting sponsor of PricingSaaS. ▪️ WTP will help develop the community and the PricingSaaS report product and data product. ▪️ WTP + PricingSaaS will host ongoing joint Webinars as part of every monthly report ▪️ PricingSaaS will take over the 500+ people SaaS Pricing community on Skool and grow this into the #1 SaaS pricing community online (if it isn't already - link in comments). For those of you who don't know:  PricingSaaS scrapes 3000+ SaaS pricing pages on a daily basis and has done so for years, creating a unique backlog and dataset on pricing trends and changes. John and Rob then use AI to analyze changes and trends across the SaaS pricing universe and then publish this with expert commentary in both newsletters, reports and here on LinkedIn. (Rob is a master B2B SaaS content marketer and former pricing consultant, John a former SaaS CPO). From our side (WillingnessToPay) we thought we could add even more to the PricingSaaS product - both in terms of the taxonomy and structure of the data collection, but also via added commentary. This is huge for us, as we haven't had the ressources to really serve the broader market (we can deal with maybe ~10 clients a year). What now? ▪️ Go to pricingsaas . com and subscribe -> This will give you the newsletters and reports and webinar invites on a recurring basis. ▪️ Go to skool . com /about/SaaSPricing and join the community. Then sit back and see the magic happen. Here is to SaaS pricing and good people 🥂 !

  • What *actually* works in pricing research: From someone who’s run 100+ programs (Rob Litterst) 👀 1️⃣ Methodology matters - Van Westendorp: Four targeted questions to understand price sensitivity - 'At what price would this be too expensive? Too cheap?' etc. - MaxDiff: Forces choice between features to show what really matters ('If you could only have one...') - Qualitative interviews to understand the 'why' No single method tells the whole story. Layer them. 2️⃣ The basics matter more - Keep surveys under 12 minutes - Use precise language ('per user/month' not just 'how much?') - Test your survey flow rigorously - QA multiple times (bad data wastes everyone's time) 3️⃣ Sample size - Quantitative: 30-50 responses per segment you care about - Qualitative: 10-15 deep interviews with actual decision-makers - Remember: Quality of respondent > Quantity of responses 4️⃣ Common Pitfalls to Avoid - Unclear pricing units - Survey fatigue from too many questions - Assuming one methodology is enough The reality? Good pricing research isn't about finding a perfect price. It's about understanding how customers value what you do. What methods have worked for you?

AI features are becoming table stakes. But pricing them wrong can kill adoption or leave $$$ on the table. SaaS leaders globally are wrestling with the AI pricing question. After analyzing hundreds of companies in our PricingSaaS database, here's the definitive framework: 🚀 For AI add-ons: 👉 Seat-Based: Boost ARPU by tying AI value to seat cost 👉 Usage-Based: Drive ARPA through consumption-based pricing 👉 Hybrid: Get both predictable revenue + usage-based expansion 🎯 For existing tiers: 👉 All Tiers: Boost core value & retention across the board 👉 Premium Tiers: Create compelling upgrade paths 👉 Enterprise Only: Perfect for high-touch expansion plays 👉 Hybrid: Limit usage by tier to drive upgrades ⚡️ For new products: 👉 Winning formula = Strong existing customer base + clear cross-sell motion The real insight? Market leaders aren't following trends. They're aligning AI pricing with their existing GTM strategy. That's where the magic happens. What path is your company taking?

  • Your pricing page is critical Test it with these 4 questions across your org: 1️⃣ Product: Is it clear why each package exists? 🎯Packages should be distinct, with clear feature differentiation or usage limits (e.g., scale, automation, support). 2️⃣ Marketing: Is it clear who each package is for? 👭 A visitor should know which package fits them in 30 seconds. Bonus: Call out use cases or user types. 3️⃣ Sales: Is the next step obvious for each package? 💰 Every package needs a clear CTA, like ‘Get Started’ or ‘Contact Sales.’ 4️⃣ Success: Does it show how pricing scales? 📈Customers should roughly understand how costs grow as they do. Stakeholders from these teams should contribute to pricing, but if not, this test ensures angles are covered. For inspiration, check out this page by Notion - they’ve nailed it.

  • How much are customers willing to pay for AI-powered features? We uncover the data in our Q4 2024 AI Benchmarks Report 🎯 The spread tells an interesting story about value perception in tech: 👉 Security commands premium pricing - no surprise when data breaches cost millions 👉 Customer support tools justify higher prices through direct ROI metrics 👉 Content/analytics space is ultra-competitive, forcing aggressive pricing Most interesting? The 5.5x price difference between the top and bottom. Shows how market positioning and problem criticality drive pricing more than feature count... Surprised?

  • Your pricing should reflect YOUR value, not your competitors. When you blindly copy others, you risk: 1️⃣ Undervaluing your product: If your value is higher than theirs, you’re leaving money on the table. 2️⃣ Misaligning with your audience: Your competitor’s pricing is tailored to their customer base - not yours. 3️⃣ Missing differentiation: Pricing isn’t just a number; it’s a statement about your positioning in the market. Instead, focus on: 🔍 Understanding your unique value proposition 📊 Conducting research: Let the data guide you 🏆 Creating a pricing strategy that aligns with your business goals Because competitors’ pricing is just one data point - not the whole story.

  • Why customer segments are key to your SaaS pricing strategy: Not all customers are the same… so why should your pricing be? Segmenting your audience helps you: ✅ Align pricing with what different customers value most ✅ Maximize revenue by meeting diverse needs ✅ Build stronger relationships through tailored offerings The better you understand your segments, the better your pricing performs. How well do you know your customer segments?

  • SaaS businesses are figuring out how to price their AI features. After analyzing hundreds of companies in our PricingSaaS database, we found patterns that can help. Here's the framework that emerged: - Add on route: ✅ Seat-based (like Notion) ✅ Usage-based (like Postman) ✅ Hybrid approach (combining both) - Existing tiers: ⚡️Roll out to all tiers ⚡️Premium tiers only ⚡️Enterprise-only play - New product: 🚀The boldest bet - launching a standalone AI product (But only if you've got the customer base to support it) No single path is ‘right.’ But each choice reveals what a company thinks about AI's role in their future.
