« Je me souviens de l’odeur des gâteaux de riz, de l’ambiance des retrouvailles en famille qui régnait dans le salon de mes parents, de la tenue traditionnelle rugueuse que je devais porter et des enveloppes d’argent, appelées Sebaet-don. Je reconnais que lorsque j’étais enfant, l’argent était ce que je préférais du Nouvel An lunaire », écrit Kevin Kim, directeur de succursale TD, à North York, en Ontario. Pour Kevin Kim, le Nouvel An lunaire est toujours un moment spécial, mais sa façon de le célébrer a légèrement changé. S’il continue de se réunir avec ses frères autour d’un repas, il participe également au gala du Nouvel An lunaire de la TD. « Ce gala m’a permis d’en apprendre énormément sur les autres cultures asiatiques », se réjouit-il. “I remember the smell of the rice cakes. The feeling of family gathering in my parents' living room. The scratchy traditional outfit I had to wear. And the gifting of money, known as Sebaet-don. As a kid, I'll admit, the money was my favourite part of Lunar New Year,” writes Kevin Kim, a TD branch manager in North York, Ont. For Kim, Lunar New Year is still a special time, but how he celebrates has changed a bit. While he still gathers with his brothers to enjoy a meal, Kim also attends the TD Lunar New Year gala. “It’s helped me learn a lot about other Asian cultures,” he writes.
