99% Optical Character Recognition (OCR) accuracy - not in Quebec! This was an interesting challenge to overcome as we scaled across Canada. How can we accurately read cards with embossed letters? This example below is actually one of the better ones (specimen document). What we see in reality is way worse! Often, it's difficult for a human operator to distinguish the characters on the document from the background. Just another day, where the fantastic team at ICP HUB Canada & US and Quantum Leap Labs is educating and empowering the world, one round table at a time😋 Truly, it was a delight curating this epic roundtable on the Topic - Building Projects from Zero to DAO on the ICP Blockchain at the Elevate Festival alongside one of Quantum Leap Labs' top founders, Sam Drissi, CEO at bIPQuantum, a revolutionary blockchain based solution changing the way we deal with Intellectual Property. (PS: You can clearly see his dedication in creating IPs out of random moments through his passion for photography. Just kidding👻) The intention behind doing the roundtable was to tap into startups that are building sustainable solutions, and to see if ICP as a technology could be used to optimise these solutions. And we did! We were fortunate to meet with great and innovative minds that wanted to utilise technology to its fullest. Huge shoutout to Ewelina E. Pankowska, Lhallia Bouima, Kavyne Bent, Devender (Dev) Butani and ofcourse Sam Drissi for turning the table into a brainstorm fiesta! But it wasn't exactly like that when we started it. Being in the industry for quiet sometime, working first-hand with web2 products and understanding the technological advancements of the web3 world, honestly gave me an unfair advantage. I was dealing with CEOs here, and using fancy web3 jargons was blocking the true purpose and power of blockchain. Which is why, I gave one look to Sam, and we hit the brakes on our conversation, going back to the inception and breaking things down to bits. We weren't afraid of talking about other blockchains and the amazing work they have done so far, because, at ICP — We believe in true "interoperability" which can only be achieved through collaboration. And so we did talk about how it all started, turning complexity in to clarity which lit the room up with "Aha" moments. My favorite part about such audience is the "Wait, you can actually do that?" moments as you dive deeper into the conversation. And boy, we had plenty! - when we explored ICP's scalability, robustness and the power of on-chain governance to make truly decentralized decisions, digging into how these can transform the needle of technological products. And guess what the outcome was? I'm lining up calls with their tech teams this week to convert these "deep-dive" conversations into real collaborations! A big shoutout to Lauren Crerar and team Elevate for their wonderful support, ever since the first call! Thank you for accommodating us in such short time and for bringing such quality crowd under the same roof. 🚀 Exciting Progress in Speech Emotion Recognition (SER) with the TESS, CREMA-D, and RAVDESS Datasets! 🎤 Our latest project leverages the Toronto Emotional Speech Set (TESS), CREMA-D, and Ryerson Audio-Visual Database of Emotional Speech and Song (RAVDESS) to push the boundaries of Speech Emotion Recognition (SER) technology. 🌟 📊 Datasets at a Glance: 🔹 TESS Dataset: 2800 audio files 7 emotions: angry, sad, neutral, surprised, happy, disgust, and fear 🔹 CREMA-D Dataset: 7442 clips from 91 actors Diverse ethnicities: African American, Asian, Caucasian, Hispanic, and Unspecified 6 emotions: Anger, Disgust, Fear, Happy, Neutral, and Sad 4 emotion levels: Low, Medium, High, and Unspecified 🔹 RAVDESS Dataset: 1440 audio files 24 professional actors Emotions: calm, happy, sad, angry, fearful, surprise, and disgust Using these rich and varied datasets, we trained a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model, achieving an accuracy of 62%. This performance demonstrates significant progress in accurately identifying emotional states from speech, thanks to the diverse data provided by these comprehensive datasets. 🎉 Shoutout to the Amazing Team: Tanuj Ohri Satyam Malhotra Together, we are paving the way for more nuanced and robust human-computer interactions, healthcare advancements, and psychological insights through advanced SER technologies. I've excerpted AI points from a great article Anshel Sag. It echoes what I've been saying for a decade now. XR & AI go together for Natural Human Input. AI can smooth and interpret eye, voice, hand, and body input. XR needs AI for interpolation, integration, and for guessing the missing pieces for convincing Natural Human Input. XR doesn't need AI for some bullshit nonsense of virtual worlds like in the movie, Inception. AI won't make the metaverse, sorry. We will, in the decades to come. AI won't solve the speed of light for rendering graphics. AI, however, can do voice recognition, can guess where your eyes look, what menus you need, and what gestural command you made with your hands. Clearly, Google agrees because it is infusing AI everywhere within Android XR; I believe this is the right approach and will only increase the appetite for AI computing. I do believe Android XR’s deep integration with Gemini and Astra will be transformational for the industry. It was really powerful to experience the spectrum of XR from smart glasses up to a mixed-reality headset and understand how Android XR bridges all of those platforms in a way few companies could. It’s quite clear that Meta has some real competition from Google, and I’m genuinely glad to see that Google is back in the XR space with real gusto."
