On Day 3 of #InfoTechLIVE 2024 I moderated a panel discussion on explainable AI (XAI) with Ryan Brunet and Martin Bufi Both panelists have real world AI development experience and shared some of their thoughts: - We often think of explainability from a model execution perspective. We should not neglect the data ingestion perspective. Our sources can also explain how we got our result. - We are starting to see vendors build abstraction layers for explainability and semantics into their products. - XAI for ML still remains much easier when compared to GenAI. - XAI still requires a strong data science capability. What are your chances of getting good insights from talk-to-your-data products (such as Databricks Genie), if you're still arguing about what an "account" means internally? The more you shift left your AI and BI stack, the more pressure you put on said data teams to get their definitions right.
