FluidAI Medical is leading a consortium of Canadian medtech companies in launching the Postoperative Patient Management Platform (PPMP) project, building on the success of the Continuous Connected Patient Care (CCPC) initiative. This project, part of Canada's Global Innovation Cluster for digital technologies (DIGITAL), aims to advance postoperative care through AI and machine learning technologies. The consortium includes Medtronic Canada ULC, Excelar Technologies, Providence Health Care Ventures, and the University of Waterloo. Their goal is to develop advanced predictive analytics to forecast postoperative complications like anastomotic leaks and respiratory depression. DIGITAL CEO Sue Paish emphasized the project's significance, stating, "AI will revolutionise global health care systems by providing greater access and better outcomes for Canadians and for people around the world." The project will initially be deployed at Providence Health Care's St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, with plans for expansion across Canada and internationally. FluidAI CEO Youssef Helwa highlighted the project's innovative approach: "By integrating AI and continuous monitoring into the PPMP project, we are developing a platform that not only facilitates earlier detection of complications but also sets a new precedent for proactive, data-driven patient care." It was Laurie Hendren’s vision that all patients in Quebec will have immediate access to all of their health data. The Opal Health Informatics Group and the Quebec SmartCare Consortium have been working on achieving this vision but there is much work still to be done. This symposium will bring together international and local experts on sharing data with patients to discuss how we can achieve Laurie’s vision. We will explore the concept of “patient-in-the-loop” data, which we define as clinical data that are shared with the patient just as they are with the other members of the patient’s care team.
