📰What’s next after the end of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire? On 18 March, Israel ended the ceasefire, launching air strikes on #Gaza that killed over 400 people. It has also maintained a blockade since 2 March, impeding the access of all goods. ▪️ Without the entrance of humanitarian aid in Gaza, people are more likely to become ill or even die because of the lack of healthcare access. ▪️ Food insecurity levels will keep rising. ▪️ The rising number of civilian casualties will likely lead to more unaccompanied children. 📑 #Ukraine: What happens when critical foreign aid is suddenly cut off? How will Ukraine’s humanitarian and development programmes cope with funding gaps? What’s the impact on the affected communities? Since 2022, Ukraine has been among the top recipients of US foreign assistance, receiving over USD 38 billion in humanitarian, development, and government funding (excluding military assistance). With most of this funding now at risk, the cuts will likely cause severe service gaps, leaving communities with unmet basic needs and threatening both immediate humanitarian outcomes and the long-term safety and well-being of millions of Ukrainians. 🔗 Read more, download analysis: https://lnkd.in/e3zvhvqg 📧 Stay informed—subscribe to Ukraine Analysis Hub newsletter & receive our analysis in Ukrainian + English: https://lnkd.in/edry7dUX #UkraineConflict #HumanitarianAid #USAID #USaidCuts #AidCuts #ForeignAid #HumanitarianCrisis #Development #UkraineCrisis

Whatever the way forward, a new framework to organise international support for people affected by crisis should deliberately and firmly combine human rights and humanitarian principles. It's absurd to discuss community engagement and accountability, without acknowledging the political realities people live in. Setting up "common feedback mechanisms" without considering freedom of speech, is a bit pointless. I'm quite proud of the work I was involved in for the last couple of years, together with Claudia Manili Angeliki Nika at ACAPS and Emily Cowlrick and Irene Scott at Internews, helping to map out the "information environment" of a humanitarian crisis, including indicators around safety for journalists. More about this work here: https://lnkd.in/e7yGp4hN I hope, for instance, the UN Charter Reform Coalition is taking this into account.

#Colombia: located in the southern region of the country and part of the Amazon Basin, Putumayo is facing an increasing public health crisis due to the spread of vector-borne diseases. Environmental, structural, and conflict-related factors heighten the risk of severe health impacts and humanitarian consequences. Some key findings: ➡️ Insufficient vaccination coverage against yellow fever in adults leaves a significant portion of the population highly vulnerable to severe outbreaks. ➡️ Weak disease surveillance and response systems delay early detection and containment efforts Read the full report: https://lnkd.in/d3UUU-XH
