Roadmap to Reduce Animal Testing: The EU Talks, the US Acts On April 10, the FDA launched a detailed, ambitious strategy to reduce and eventually eliminate animal testing in drug development. It builds on scientifically validated NAMs (e.g., organ-on-chip, in silico models, AI) and offers clear milestones, interagency collaboration, and regulatory alignment. In contrast, the EU—despite strong public support and commendable ethical ambitions—continues with a slow, consultative process, with no final roadmap expected before 2026. Its fragmented regulatory structure and internal inconsistencies risk undermining Europe’s global leadership in ethical science. 🧪🐁 What’s needed? Coordinated governance, urgent policy action, transatlantic dialogue, and inclusive capacity-building—especially with the Global South. Read how transformative governance and policy alignment can ensure ethical, effective science keeps pace with innovation: https://lnkd.in/e7shTQqq #PolicyLabs #EthicsInScience

At the recent Times Higher Education Events Asia Universities Summit in Macao, Stephan Kuster, Director of External Affairs at Frontiers, joined a panel discussion on the evolving landscape of academic publishing. A new article from Times Higher Education highlights key points from the discussion, including Stephan’s perspective on the increasing volume of global research output and the growing role of artificial intelligence in safeguarding research integrity. During the panel, Stephan noted: “A lot of the misconduct is not detectable by human eyes. It’s not going to be detected in peer review or by research integrity experts in your editorial office. You need technology to detect this, and that means AI.” Read the full article here: https://fro.ntiers.in/DK7y
