🇨🇳 🇷🇺 🌍 🇪🇺🇨🇭 🇨🇳 🇷🇺 🌍 Keep an eye on the soaring prices of critical minerals! 🚀 For instance, #Dysprosium (Dy) and #Praseodymium (Pr)—essential for high-powered magnets—are mainly sourced from #China. Not only does #China produce these magnet-ready materials, but it & the other #BRICS nations also hold significant reserves. 🌍 The world needs major tech changes for the electrification of transport systems. Remember, half of the world's 600 exajoules of energy demand is consumed just for transport! 🚗💨 When it comes to batteries, #Lithium is a bottleneck. To replace our 1.5 billion passenger cars, each needing about 30 kg of Lithium (like the Tesla S), we’ll need around 45 million tonnes. But only about 26 million tonnes of the estimated 100 million tonnes can be economically extracted. What about battery storage for intermittent power generation? 🤔 For a cold, still winter night, we’d need 20 million tonnes of Lithium for just 12 hours! A 24-hour storm warning? That jumps to 40 million tonnes. Want a thriving industrial electrical economy, or there's a week-long storm coming? You’ll need 280 million tonnes for 7 days of storage—more than what exists on Earth! 🌌 But do we really care about these calculations? Not really. Many economies may go broke first trying the "local green, global mean" strategy—Germany is a prime example. One thing’s certain: it won’t be the BRICS nations facing this challenge. This issue extends to other critical minerals like #samarium, #cobalt, and even #copper. Going electric? We need tech breakthroughs first! ⚡️ But they’ll come as demand far outstrips supply of these critical metals. The downside? A potential 20 to 50-year delay in transitioning from 8.5 million human deaths annually due to fossil fuel pollution to a clean green future—assuming we achieve the essential technology breakthroughs. Can we speed this up? Absolutely! 💪 Why do we know this? Because of #Thorium! It is typically found with #RareEarths and other critical elements. We crack rare earths and give up to 10x increase in their recovery, whilst stockpiling Thorium, AND releasing other critical minerals. We also track the elements too, giving cradle-to-grave providence. DRC anyone? Our approach involves cracking rare earths for up to a 10x increase in recovery while tracking elements for cradle-to-grave providence—hello DRC! 🌿 It’s not all about Thorium, but it should be! With almost zero-cost energy from Liquid Fission Thorium Burners (LFTBs), the next phase of resource collection will be urban mining and plasma tech.
