Providing clean drinking water changes lives and empowers women! 💧💙
Another month, another inspiring story from our mabagrown fund projects.
Today, we are highlighting an amazing initiative in Zimbabwe, where we are teaming up with our valued partners to bring clean drinking water to local communities.
🔍What is this project about?
Mushumbi and Binga are one of the driest regions in the country. By drilling 24 boreholes in total, we have helped to improve the access to clean drinking water.
This has been truly life changing for the villagers as it has greatly improved sanitation, hygiene and health, contributing to decrease the numbers of diseases such as cholera.
But the impact of this project goes beyond health – it also stands for empowering women:
✨In the past, women spent 2 to 4 hours each day fetching water. The boreholes free up time for their responsibilities in farming and family care.
💪 Women have also been encouraged to take charge in the local committees overseeing general maintenance and reporting procedures related to the boreholes, which contributed to strengthening their reputation in the community.
📚 Support the youngest community members in prioritizing school attendance over household duties like water collection, thus contributing to their education.
We are proud to be able to support sustainable projects like this as they empower communities and drive meaningful impact at the very foundation of our supply chains. #staytuned for more inspiring stories.
