Podcasts are a good way for me to acquire knowledge on individual topics, sometimes while driving or doing other activities. I’ve also had the chance to be a guest on a few podcasts, including the OMR podcast, whose recent episode with Oliver Bierhoff brought up many topics in sports and business that I could relate to. With Philipp Westermeyer, Oliver talks about the development of the soccer business, his current projects, and his former career. While listening, I could see myself in many of his thoughts. For example, when considering what happens after an active career. Even though salaries have risen in recent years, this question remains essential. On the one hand, the end of your career suddenly gives you much free time, and you must be clear about what you want to do. On the other hand, even as a professional footballer, you still have to look at how you handle your money responsibly and care for yourself and your family in the best possible way. I found fields of interest in the venture capital and private equity world - and everything regarding the evolution of media and technology. Thus, I’ve already created a possible path for me, whether it will be that one after the career. In the same way, Oliver tells how he has built up his network as an active player to be able to work on different projects later on. It’s good to see how he described his own different roles - first as an athlete, then as a manager and now as a strategic advisor. However, wealth management is essential for athletes because earning high wages is only half the battle. It would help if you were clear on where to allocate the money and always stay updated on how different investments are going. Since putting much effort into my investment activities, I have established a team of people supporting me, including a multi family office. But I also know that many other athletes are not prepared similarly. And I feel it’s my mission to make them aware of the advantages of building a particular structure for the future. So, to achieve long-term financial success, it either takes a strong affection for these topics or a good consultation and the right team by your side 🤝

The swiss main news brought the current cycling market situation to the their news and unfortunately this will put even more pressure on the retail prices as they say you get everywhere discounts. It’s already a difficult year and then with the news yesterday about Flyer closing their production in Switzerland will put even more questions where the cycling market will go. There is still a significant high stock at retailers and brands and the economy situation makes it not easier. The retail needs to set focus on good service and after sales that will help in the mid and long run when the market is picking up again.
