During a recent customer visit, Yves Terneu captured stunning images of white concrete elements produced by C-concrete using D-Carb CEM II/A-LL 52.5R #whitecement. These high-whiteness, smooth-surface #sandwichpanels will be supplied for the TenneT 380 kV high-voltage substation in Amaliahaven, Netherlands, requiring a total of 1,060 m³ of white concrete based on #DCarb. 👏 As one of the quick movers to transition from Aalborg White CEM I to the lower carbon white cement D-Carb, C-Concrete successfully made the switch with minor formulation adjustments. Nikolas Schack, Quality & Concrete Supervisor of C-Concrete, noted in our previous interview, “A key concern for concrete technologists—28-day compressive strength—was successfully met without compromise. The Lucie Aubrac Residence: Dressed in White Under the project management of 1001 Vies Habitat, the Lucie Aubrac Residence, a social housing project in Évry, South of Paris, designed by Fabienne Guérin-Jean, is currently under construction. The building façade combines grey concrete at the ground level with #whiteconcrete above. #AalborgWhite CEM I 52,5 R DK cement was used in the cast-in-situ concrete, with the concrete surface left in their raw, as-cast state, requiring meticulous execution. To ensure consistency in finishes across different weather conditions, the contractor employed latest in-house B20 stainless steel formwork and a bio-based, highly aqueous white release oil. The façade also features deep grooves at each window level, creating a cohesive rhythm throughout the buildings. This design echoes the aesthetic of the ground floors, which are characterized by a series of arched patterns. The polyurethane magnetic matrices system was utilized to ensure uniformity in the window groove detailing, which can be reused up to 45 times! In total, approximately 874 m³ of architectural white concrete was used for this project. The contrast between the light upper levels and the darker base enhances the building visual impact. Additionally, the engraved façades elevate the overall design of residential buildings, seamlessly blending durability with architectural elegance. This March in Wuhan, China, #InWhite #UHPC reconnected with industry stakeholders at the 2nd China UHPC Technology Innovation and Development Conference, organized by the #CCPA UHPC Branch, with Aalborg Portland Anqing as a co-organizer. The standards cover material standards, construction guidelines, and design specifications, providing a robust framework for UHPC technology and applications. CPIC Xintiandi Commercial Center Shanghai: A new landmark decorated with GRC façade, just completed in late 2024. Located in the heart of Shanghai vibrant Xintiandi, this Commercial Complex was co-designed by renowned architectural firms, including KPF, Kokaistudios, 华东建筑设计研究总院 ECADI, and WSP. The centerpiece is a stunning 250-meter super Grade-A office tower, complemented by two Grade-A office buildings approximately 100 meters tall and dynamic commercial podiums. The project features 11,000 sqm GRC façade, characterized by rich surface finishes, classic shades and diverse shapes. Produced by Jiangsu Huiquan, all using Aalborg White cement, GRC texture include polished terrazzo, exposed aggregate and sandstone, with panels available in flat, folded and curved forms.
