Megalops atlanticus (Tarpon) is a species of ray-finned fishes in the family tarpons. They are listed as vulnerable by IUCN. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to Mediterranean Sea, Ethiopia, Atlantic Ocean, The Neotropics, and The Nearctic. They are carnivores. Individuals can grow to 250 cm. They have sexual reproduction. They rely on swimming to move around.
