Announcing the Call for Proposals of the SD-WAN & SASE Summit 2024 The 9th Edition of the Summit will take place next 12 and 13 November 2024 at the Hotel Pullman Paris Bercy. A particular place will be given this year to AI/ML impact on networking. Experts will discuss troubleshooting and predicting network issues, automation, interoperability and compatibility with existing networks and digital twins. They will also answer the following questions: -       How to compare the different SASE solutions? -       How to compromise between SD-WAN and security aspects? -       Is ZTNA the only and right approach? -       How is 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) impacting the market? Prescreening Olympic host-cities: democratic and operational considerations Regarding the host-city selection in mega-event, a trend had emerged within the governing bodies (FIFA and the International Olympic Committee/IOC) : the predetermination of host-cities many years in advance. I wish to make a focus on the Games. 1/ This shift, while seemingly pragmatic, can pose a significant threat to the democratic principles that underpin the Olympic movement. Traditionally, the selection of host cities for the Olympic Games has been a process marked by open bidding, transparency, and democratic participation. Cities from around the world would compete fiercely, showcasing their infrastructure, culture, and commitment to the Olympic ideals. The final decision rested in the hands of IOC members, who exercised their voting power to choose the most suitable host, based on the analysis of the “Evaluation Commission”. Prescreening Olympic host-cities can diminish the role and influence of IOC members and weaken the diversity and universality principles of its Session. 2/ On an operational level, the implications of predetermining host cities extend beyond procedural concerns. It will be more complex to structure and keep alive the “design to time” focus within the organising committee. And we could see the prevalence of "design to cost". But there has always been a need for innovation, creativity, and adaptability – qualities essential for ensuring the continued relevance and success of the event. Locking in host cities many years ahead could increase the flexibility to respond to evolving geopolitical, economic, and environmental factors. And provide easier financial engineering. As well as the diplomatic leeway to envision multi-territory projects with cross border developments... 3/ The bidding process already served as a first catalyst for positive change, inspiring cities to invest in infrastructure, sustainability, and social progress – benefits that extend far beyond the duration of the Games. With Agenda 2020+5, President Bach has set a precedent for innovation, adaptability, and resilience in the face of evolving global challenges. We have the choice to see if the glass is half full or empty. As Paris 2024 is around the corner, let us embrace a confident spirit, trusting innovation and cooperation. Forum de Paris sur la Paix (PPF) is an annual event dedicated to discussing different topics and propose solutions to tackle different challenges facing people worldwide. The forum took place on 10 June 2024 for the first-time outside France, precisely in Benguerir, Morocco, during its Spring Meeting. In a deteriorated international environment characterised by conflicts and complex crises, actors from around the world gathered at University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (UM6P) to foster cooperation and co-create policies to achieve “Fair Transitions”. In fact, the PPF provides a platform for dialogue and action developed and adapted by different players, be they from private or public sectors, Global North or Global South to get broad consensuses to support projects, convey power, and establish multi-actor policy initiatives in distinct areas. The forum also builds up its role on saving global coordination, common action for the green transition, biodiversity, critical minerals, and for African agriculture from tensions. The assault came after a months-long blockade that left residents without access to essential goods and was condemned by the European Parliament as an act of ethnic cleansing. "Three weeks before the attack on Nagorno-Karabakh, TotalEnergies CEO Patrick Pouyanné met with Azerbaijan President Aliyev in Baku for the inauguration ceremony of the Absheron gas field, estimated to contain 350 billion cubic meters of gas and more than 45 million tonnes of gas condensate." "TotalEnergies has defined itself as the #fossilfuel major willing to do business in conflict states." And, as Mai notes, “It is up to the French government to ensure that TotalEnergies does not present Europe with geopolitical vulnerabilities and that its business model does not fuel conflict and human rights abuses around the world.
