A big thank you to everyone who stopped by the #HKBU booth at #JUMPSTARTER2025, where we showcased the innovative green solutions developed by our start-ups, led by our talented professors. Highlights included Prof. Zhao Jun's technology for transforming biomass waste into clean hydrogen, Prof. Matthew Lui's use of insects to sustainably recycle plastic waste, and Prof. Ken Leung's development of advanced nanofiber coatings for enhanced durability. We were also excited to present our Art Tech creation, “𝐇𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐨𝐧_𝟐𝟓,” developed under the guidance of Prof. Jeffrey Shaw. We recently had the pleasure of hosting Mr Leonard Lai, Founder & CEO of Singapore's film production company LITTLE GREEN WHITE, along with Co-Founder Ms Grace Chan. They were warmly welcomed by Mr Raymond Chan, Assistant Director of Entrepreneurship, and key representatives from the Academy of Film to explore opportunities for exchange and collaboration. During their visit, our guests toured the Shaw Auditorium of Creative Media, discovering our advanced facilities, including the AI Media Innovation Lab and Asia’s first Dolby Atmos Production Studio in a higher education setting. At #JUMPSTARTER2025 today, we were honored to welcome Ms Lillian Cheong, Under Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the HKSAR Government, to visit #HKBU’s booth. She learnt more about the university’s pioneering green innovations and experienced our immersive art tech creation, the 3D audiovisual installation “Horizon_25”. In our commitment to foster innovation, HKBU announced a collaboration with Alibaba DAMO Academy at #JUMPSTARTER to enhance technology in health science and art tech. By leveraging DAMO Academy's AI expertise, this collaboration aims to accelerate the development of innovative drugs and treatments, with the inaugural project focusing on drug development at the Centre for Chinese Herbal Medicine Drug Development. Today, we're thrilled to debut at #JUMPSTARTER, Asia's premier innovation event hosted by the Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund! This vibrant gathering is filled with investors, innovators, and tech professionals from around the world. We’re excited to showcase our groundbreaking green technologies and captivating Art Tech creations. Our transformative green solutions from #HKBU startups are generating significant interest, including green hydrogen production by BioH2 Tech Ltd., insect-based recycling of plastic waste by BeastiBite Limited, and advanced nanofibre coatings by Bright Hub Technology. These innovations highlight our commitment to sustainability and are sparking conversations among attendees. #HKBU’s pioneering innovations in sports science projects were showcased at the Guangdong-Hong Kong Technology Showcase yesterday at HKCEC. We were honored to welcome Mr Wang Weizhong, Governor of Guangdong Province; Mr C.Y. Leung, Vice-Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference; Mr Zheng Yanxiong, Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR; Hon. Duncan Chiu, Member of the Legislative Council of the HKSAR; and Dr Rocky Cheng, CEO of Cyberport Hong Kong. These esteemed guests were warmly received by the HKBU team, including Prof. Alex Wai, President and Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Terence Lau, Interim Chief Innovation Officer; Prof Patrick Lau, Department Chair from the Department of Sports and Health Sciences; along with other members of the research team. One of the projects presented was the Real-time Human Data Metrics which monitors athletes’ health conditions in multi-location environmental conditions tracked in real-time. Going forward, HKBU will collaborate with relevant parties in Hong Kong and Guangdong Province to apply this technology at the upcoming 15th National Games of China later this year.
