HKEX to Digitalise ETP Servicing Capabilities with Online Platform Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) is pleased to announce today (Tuesday) plans to digitise and automate the in-kind creation and redemption process for relevant exchange-traded products (ETP) in 2025 through the adoption of a web-based platform, subject to technical readiness and regulatory approval. This platform will be integrated into the ETP creation and redemption process, connecting key ETP participants with the use of Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) and smart contracts, and will help increase overall ETP market efficiency, supporting the continued growth of secondary market activity for ETPs. Each quarter MPF Ratings releases its MPF Fund Flows Summary, data that (owing to its independence) is Hong Kong MPF's Industry’s Trusted Source.  . MPF (Mandatory Provident Fund) data is a valuable indicator of Hong Kong's employment trends and economic health, providing insights for fund managers, trustees, and journalists. As Carly Fiorina noted, the goal is to turn data into actionable insights. . In Q3, the MPF system recorded net inflows of $11.51bn, an impressive figure but 11% below the five-year quarterly average. Time flies. One year ago today, we formed GSTAR (Group Strategy, Transformation, Analytics and Research) team at DBS Bank. This team brings together the different functions to architect, catalyse and drive the strategic transformation of DBS to be a differentiated bank, powered by research and AI. That's our mission. Why? Because we believe that transformation does not happen by chance. Grateful to all our team members and stakeholders for their dedication and commitment to work together as one team, delivering value for our shareholders, customers, employees and community. It's my privilege to lead this multi-disciplinary team of professionals since I returned from Taiwan. We are a diverse group with different expertise, different strengths, different perspectives, and even different DNA among us (left-brained vs right-brained individuals). That said, our diversity is our strength. We are committed to providing absolute psychological safety to speak up, and help each other improve for the betterment of the whole. It's also about give and take, leveraging off each other's strengths with respect under one roof. The GSTAR organisation is a unique setup; it's like a startup. We don't own the P&L but we need to contribute to it. We can't be intrusive but we need to be at the table. It's a fine balance. We have to discover, define, develop and deliver our value in an agile and pragmatic way. What we do is not just about being well-reasoned, but also about being reasonable and relatable to our stakeholders with resonance. Beyond the functional jobs, we need to also deliver the emotional and social jobs to be done. It's about credibility and impact. Not easy especially when we are dealing with new frontiers. I thank my team for the candour and robustness of the debates in our ideation and execution processes. Many things seem common sense but may not be common practice, and it's our job to call them out. Strategy without effective execution is like an illusion. Execution without a clear strategy is like a hobby. Strategy and execution without purpose is like a straw man without soul. There is no compromise to this trinity. To all our GSTAR functional and location heads, thank you for your leadership and partnership on this journey thus far on driving strategy and execution with purpose. More importantly, your courage to explore new frontiers is amazing. My appreciation also goes to all our internal and external partners. Your support and trust means a lot to us. Almost 300 participants from more than 100 banks attended today’s industry sharing session, “Journey to Operational Resilience: Mapping and Testing,” co-hosted by the HKMA and The Hong Kong Association of Banks. In her opening remarks, Carmen Chu, Executive Director (Banking Supervision) of the HKMA, shared the positive progress made by banks in putting in place robust operational resilience frameworks. She also highlighted the remaining challenges in mapping and scenario testing exercises, as well as the importance of keeping the momentum in the coming months. The HKMA will continue to proactively work together with the industry, noting the increasingly far-reaching consequences of operational disruptions in today’s interconnected world. Panel speakers included Marina Tong of HSBC, Rose Kay of Standard Chartered, Peter Law of Bank of China (Hong Kong), and Ricky Woo of DBS Bank, who shared valuable insights and good practices for mapping the interdependencies of banks’ critical operations. Real-life case studies from payment, trading and mobile banking operations were shared.
