💡 AEO8 Insights: ASEAN is Expected to Achieve Full Electrification by 2030 Did you know? ASEAN is on track to achieve full electrification by 2030, based on current national policy settings. However, universal access to clean cooking remains a long-term challenge, with projections estimating only 87% access by 2050. The 8th ASEAN Energy Outlook (#AEO8), developed by the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), in close collaboration with ASEAN Member States and partners, provides actionable insights and data-driven projections to help ASEAN meet their national and regional energy targets through four (4) strategic pathways. AEO8 serves as a monitoring tool and strategic guide for energy policy development for the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC) 2026-2030. 🔗 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gjWh8cGy

Did you know that women only make up 32% of the renewable energy workforce globally? This gap is driven by multiple factors that need to be addressed in order to fully harness the potential of renewable energy in ASEAN. In this blog by the ASEAN Climate Change and Energy Project (ACCEPT) II Research Assistant, Haningrum Eka Putri Rahayu, recommendations and best practices from countries are explored, outlining pathways on how ASEAN can boost women participation in clean energy transition. Through policy reforms, gender mainstreaming, and cross-sector collaboration, ASEAN can create a supportive ecosystem where women lead the way—as the heart of ASEAN's energy transition—toward a more sustainable and inclusive energy future. 💡 Read more: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gzfYTXtj 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gn3SNupe #ASEAN #ACCEPT #Energy #Gender #IWD2025

📍ASEAN-Japan Energy Efficiency Partnership (AJEEP) Post and Summary Meeting Fiscal Year 2024-2025 The ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), in collaboration with the Energy Conservation Center Japan (ECCJ), co-organised the ASEAN-Japan Energy Efficiency Partnership (AJEEP) Post and Summary Meeting under the SOME-METI Work Programme 2024-2025. This hybrid Meeting was held on 5-6 March 2025 in Jakarta, Indonesia, and attended by representatives from nine ASEAN Member States (AMS), ACE, and ECCJ. The meeting aimed to summarise AJEEP activities for the fiscal year 2024-2025, specifically Scheme 4 (development of the Sustainable ASEAN Energy Management Certification Scheme (SAEMAS), Scheme 5 (Carbon Neutrality (CN) promotion), and ECAP (capacity building initiative for Energy Efficiency & Conservation (EE&C)). The ASEAN-Japan Energy Efficiency Partnership (AJEEP), as part of the ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Energy and Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (SOME-METI) Work Programme for 2024-2025, is a regional cooperation initiative between ASEAN and Japan, implemented by the ACE and ECCJ with financial support from METI. This partnership aims to strengthen the capacity of AMS and reduce disparities in EE&C policies and practices. 🔗 Read more: https://lnkd.in/gtxt56mc

💡 Did you know that women influence 70-80% of household purchasing decisions? This makes them key drivers of household sustainability, including the adoption of rooftop solar technology. However, factors such as safety, aesthetics, environmental impact, and clear information play a crucial role in their decision-making process. Addressing these concerns would ultimately make rooftop solar more appealing to women and boost their implementation in ASEAN. This blog written by Monika Merdekawati, Senior Research Analyst of the Sustainable and Renewable Energy (SRE) Department at the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), explores how women-focused strategies can empower more women to embrace rooftop solar, leading to cleaner, more sustainable future for ASEAN. 🔗 Read more: https://lnkd.in/g_XT4KGS #ASEAN #ACCEPT #Energy #Gender #RenewableEnergy #IWD2025

💡 Out now: Powering Regional Grid Interoperability: The Crucial Role of Transmission System Operators in the LTMS-PIP Strengthening electricity market coordination, communication mechanisms, and congestion management is essential to enhance collaboration among Transmission System Operators (TSOs) in ASEAN. In response to the growing momentum of power trading under the ASEAN Power Grid (APG) initiative, the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), with support from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) under the Global Power System Transformation (G-PST) Consortium, has developed this technical report. Derived from insights gathered through the Community of Practice (CoP) on Multilateral Power Trading (MPT) within the Lao PDR–Thailand–Malaysia–Singapore Power Integration Project (LTMS-PIP), the report highlights the hands-on experience of the role of TSOs in ensuring the smooth flow of power transfer. This technical report examines improving coordination and communication among LTMS-PIP TSOs, integrating advanced trading models, and drawing insights from international best practices such as the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP) and the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E). It further explores the transition from unilateral to fully MPT, while supporting system reliability and higher renewable energy penetration. 🔗 To find out more: https://lnkd.in/gJAWfs6z ✍ ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE)
