Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith 3D Release Date Shift

While we all await the new Star Wars movies with bated breath, let's not forget that the old Star Wars movies are still getting re-released in 3D. Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace already hit last February, and Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith are scheduled for next fall -- although the latter film's date has now been pushed up by a week.

Previously, Clones 3D was scheduled for September 20th, 2013 and Sith 3D for October 11th, 2013, but now 20th Century Fox has changed the Episode III date to October 4. That means two Star Wars movies will be on the big screen within two weeks of each other. Additionally, Clones will be facing off against The Little Mermaid's 3D release, which opens a week earlier.

While Phantom Menace's 3D conversion was met with a generally lukewarm reception, IGN's own Eric Goldman screened some footage from Clones and Sith 3D at Star Wars Celebration this summer, which prompted him to say that it seems the two films have "undergone a very impressive 3D conversion that is far superior to the one The Phantom Menace had."
